Japan

On the 23rd of this month I will travel to Japan for three weeks. The plan is to go to Osaka and then Tokyo and dig deep into the sushi culture of the country. I will be travelling with the head sushi chef of Hanko Sushi and document his pilgrimage as best I can. Our exact day-to-day travel plans are yet to be finalized but we will be attending Tokyo Sushi School (well, he will actually study - I won't) and that should provide for some interesting footage. There will be a dedicated blog but I will keep updating mine as well. Suggestions on where to go and what to see will be accepted. Yoyogi park is on my list for sure, I like the bizarre.

Swedish mountains

Off to Åre and Gävleborg again, first time for this winter. This time, though, I will be doing some skiing myself, too. Thing is, I'm not what you would call a "semi ok skier", I am quite talentless. We'll see how it goes..

Browarna

There is a place deep within the academic part of Warsaw that is so far removed from our modern reality that you would think you have gone back in time at least 40 years. While not a totally uncommon phenomenon in the city, this locale in particular has the distinctive smell of a long gone expiry date. The paint is falling off, the alleys and corridors are one aspiring director away from becoming the surroundings to a horrendous Hollywood horror movie and generally the whole place  feels like a Pyongyangian holiday destination without the choreographed dancing. So, in a nutshell, just the kind of place that makes a photographer happy, a student gasp for air and a building safety inspector be able to afford a new SUV.

This is a place where young enthusiastic people go to study linguistics. Foreign languages. Finnish, among others. If you're determined enough to study a language with little to no use in the big world, you are at least awarded with the type of surroundings that really nurture the studying soul. Perkele.

Or, alternatively, you could opt to study in the new building and not this one.

Kirkkonummi

I did a six week long DJ-course at the Kirkkonummi youth center. Yesterday was the grand finale; my students had their first show and they got to warm the crowd up for mr. Musta Barbaari. They all played well and some even did it strictly vinyl. Me so proud.
