Restaurant day

A few times a year Helsinki turns into a bustling city that feels much bigger than it actually is. On that day Helsinki becomes a paradise for all the foodies out there.

Restaurant day is a concept that is barely three years old and already it has become wildly popular. Basically, on that day anyone can setup a restaurant pretty much anywhere and cook and sell whatever they like. Or, if you're not a particularly great cook yourself, you can just go out and enjoy the hundreds and hundreds of pop-up restaurants. Tastes vary from Vietnamese pork rolls to African soups and Tibetan dumplings. And everything in between.

How this is possible in Finland, the land of a thousand regulations, is beyond me. However, it is possible and it is great.
