Happy accidents
I recently ordered some Czech film which I had not used before. Mainly because it was cheap. Like three times cheaper than other, more prestigious film brands. Package got delivered as expected and I loaded my 645 camera with some of that good stuff. Today I had a portrait shoot which I did mostly in digital. I did decide to give medium format a go, though, and whipped out the camera. The camera was set for ISO 100 which is the correct speed for the new film I had. However, I had a momentary lapse of reason and logic (not uncommon for me at all) and shot the pictures at ISO 400 and just to make sure I'd make everything as complicated as possible for myself, I over exposed the images for the incorrect speed. By accident - not because of art.
To add insult to injury, I had no idea for how long the film should be developed even when you do get the settings right. Which of course I didn't. Also, as is so often the case with mishaps such as this, I only realized all of the above by the time I was pouring the developer in.
I then proceeded to improvise. So, for all you people out there who are struggling with this exact problem right now (and I'm sure there's loads of you out there), here's the solution: 9 minutes and 21 degrees celsius in D-76 (stock). Produces what you can see below.
Not entirely hopeless for a proper f**k up. Czech film is good.
